FIGHTING TO KNOW JESUS IS RIDDLED WITH JOY AND DIFFICULTY, AS IS MOTHERHOOD. IF WE EMBRACE THIS, IT WILL BRING US TO A PLACE THAT ONLY GOD CAN BRING REST TO AND SUSTAIN US IN. THIS IS WHERE DEEP JOY IS FOUND.

The Christmas Blues

The Christmas Blues

We've all been there and for some of us it's as ritualistic as Black Friday shopping.

Depression, loneliness, anxiety or sadness...

We've all experienced these blue feelings and it's not just because your specific sales are over.

For a momma the Holiday season usually involves careful planning, budgeting, searching for sales, cooking, cleaning.

All the while hosting people and having children completely overtake your house.

It can be overwhelming (especially for us control freaks!) and if we're not careful to steer our heart with purpose...

These demands will steer us.

Why is it so easy to get side tracked in this holiday season?

There is the obvious answer of "life is so busy" and "there is so much to do"...

But really, there is a much bigger reason.

You see, the Enemy's plan for your Christmas is to steal the joy that comes from celebrating God's Godness.

I mean our enemy literally wants to distract us from the majesty of the God Man who came to bare our cross and satisfy the demand of perfection that we could not fulfill.

Satan wants you to be numb to the grandeur of it all...

He wants you stuck.

If we are not keenly aware...

The reality of what Christmas is all about will be lost for us...

And our families.

You see, the Christmas blues are no accident...

They are a ploy, taylor made for each of us, to keep us from the joy and satisfaction this season should stir up...

To keep us from God.

When we set so much expectation on gifts, experiences and appearances...

what else can our heart do after those experiences are over but sink into the blues...

The gifts, experiences and fun of Christmas cannot bare the weight of complete satisfaction that's demanded...

Only Christ himself can do that.

Sadly, we often are too busy enjoying the gifts God has given us in this beautiful season...

that we miss God.

We delight in the shadow that reflects Him instead of beholding Him in His all satisfying splendor...

What if we went into this decorated and celebrated season with intention?

What if we purposes in our heart that God would be the center of it all...

Not His gifts or His rules...

But Him alone.

He is enough...

If we could enjoy His gifts just as they are...

letting them stir up thankfulness in our soul towards the Maker of them.

When our delight is properly placed then the blues will have no space.

Motherhood is green with envy.

Motherhood is green with envy.

One God, One people, One Word.

One God, One people, One Word.
