FIGHTING TO KNOW JESUS IS RIDDLED WITH JOY AND DIFFICULTY, AS IS MOTHERHOOD. IF WE EMBRACE THIS, IT WILL BRING US TO A PLACE THAT ONLY GOD CAN BRING REST TO AND SUSTAIN US IN. THIS IS WHERE DEEP JOY IS FOUND.

Run. YOUR. Race.

Run. YOUR. Race.

I love the ache in my lungs and burn in my muscles as I push myself in a long hard run...
I love setting my mind on a goal and accomplishing it.
Running for me has been a safe place to process my thoughts and become aware of my inner "self talk".
You know...
The thoughts we subconsciously allow to dictate our actions and lives.
We all have those inner comparisons...
When self doubt is triggered...
Which then threatens to overwhelm and stunt not only the daily run but also your belief and preparedness for race day.
God calls each of us to run OUR race.
One of the biggest hindrances to us fulfilling our calling is...
Our tendency to instead run someone else's race...
If we are desperate to please particular people then we will never have the energy reserve to full on please our Maker.
Another hindrance is we often view ourselves in a lowly or prideful state when watching others run their race.
We let comparisons rule our life, which in turn, will only make us complaining slaves to the successes and failures of others.
Our enemy is brilliant in that he doesn't even have to trip us or get us disqualified...
He merely gets our attention or longing fixed on anything but the finish line....
anything but the goal.
If our eye is set on the person next to us and the pace they are setting...
If we are consumed with feeling like a failure when compared to so and so....
If we run in pride looking back on those we have left in the dust...
Our eyes have lost sight of the finish...
Our enemy has prevailed.
What's more is the training plan God has laid out for each one of us is super specific. It is perfectly designed to get each of us to our own finish line in perfect timing.
Each uphill and downhill as well as every sprint and rest day is well intended to bring us to our destination...
Our finish line... to win the prize.
My concern for so many of us is that we fall for the bait of wishing for others' training plans...
We see the splits and times of others and leave what we were designed to do to try and please or measure up to someone else.
We may not leave racing altogether but we simply jump on someone else's track.
A track that we weren't called to and we certainly aren't prepared for.
Often when we're on a track competing with someone else our focus is split.
Our eyes are fixed on the opponent instead of the goal we're called to achieve.
My what an exhausting race this will be!!
We loose the beauty of the here and now, the scenery in the different seasons of life and depth of joy that is intended in all of them...
All because or eyes are not FIXED on the goal Christ has set before us.
The goal that is specifically designed for your satisfaction in pleasing your Coach.
No. One. Else.
So may you see the finish line God has intended FOR YOU...
May you follow your training plan daily to prepare you to actually get to the finish...
May you find the joy in the hilly trails just as you do the recovery runs or rest days...
May you see others running their race and cheer them on, but not jump in their race...
May you celebrate their success but not let it define what success means for you...
May you run YOUR race with perseverance. Not beating at the air with no purpose.
May you discipline your body with the tenacity of an athlete and train it to do what God would have you do to get to YOUR finish.
May you embrace the beautiful struggle it is to walk, run or even crawl to the end with purpose in every moment.... knowing the prize is worth the struggle.
